Card Making, Christmas, Copic markers, Crafts, Homemade, Lawn Fawn, Winter

Cozy Dogs

I originally made these because I wanted a simple design that would allow me to quickly make some Christmas cards, and I ended up finishing both of these cards in only 2 hours from start to finish so it definitely fulfilled that goal. But once they were done I ended up really liking them. I love the color scheme, which is always a challenge for me when I’m creating my own design and not just recreating something, I like the simplicity, and I also like the thickness and depth you can feel when you hold these cards. I popped up the center panel with foam strips so that added some weight, and then I also added a layer of cardstock behind the patterned paper to make it more sturdy. It is a simple design but I just ended up really liking how it turned out.

This was my first time using the Color Block Scenic Scape dies from Spellbinders to create the landscape. I’ve always used the Stitched Hillside Borders from Lawn Fawn but when they’re paired with the Stitched Rectangles then you get stitching crossing over itself in two directions at the corners, and it can make the cardstock weak or even break off. It’s kind of crazy that I’ve made cards for so long and have not used other landscape dies before but I really loved using the Spellbinders dies on this card. I like the look of the smooth snow hillside without stitching and I think having only the stitching around the rectangle edges looks nicer and more finished.
