All Tied Up from Taylored Expressions

This was the set in this year’s Crop and Create Delivered from Taylored Expressions.

This was one of my favorite sets from the event. There are a few more I’m intrigued by but I haven’t actually created with them yet.

This is a stamp and layered stencil set. I haven’t really enjoyed using coloring stencils for things like critters because it takes so much time to reposition them in lots of small areas, but I did like using them for this set. They were very fast and easy to use. I did feel like I had some white areas where things weren’t lining up just right and I couldn’t seem to fix it even when I tried to overcorrect to fill in the spots, but when I held up the stencils they seemed perfectly lined up with each other so I’m going to guess it was my error.

I made 4 of these cards and it was nice to be able to quickly make a bunch of Christmas cards at the same time. If I made these again I would love to heat emboss the black lines; I think that would look beautiful. I also want to make them again with different inks. I used distress oxide inks because it was the easiest thing I had but there are certainly better ink combinations.

The pictures just do not capture the sparkle and shine on these cards. In person I think they’re really pretty because the gold metallic watercolor catches the light and the crystal embellishments add that perfect glint of dainty sparkle. Those crystal embellishments have actually been in my stash for 19 years! I made some homemade invitations with them way back in 2007, long before I started making cards regularly, and I kept them all this time. And I’m not at all someone who keeps craft supplies around if I’m not using them, but they just proved to be exactly the thing I needed here and there over the years. After making these cards I am finally almost out of them and I might need to actually buy more, if they even still make this exact kind! 😄
