Last weekend I participated in Crop and Create Delivered for the first time. (This is an event where you sign up in advance and receive products from multiple different companies and then join in live online classes to make cards with people from all over.) I created my cards after the fact instead of live but it was interesting to see what the event was like.
This card was made using the Scrapbook.com products. I like the frames and the little mugs but I don’t think I’ll use the cat or dog again. The dies have embossed lines that show you where to draw on the faces and as you can see, I just could not do it well. This was the result even after a few worse attempts, if you can believe it. I also didn’t get the dog’s nose placed correctly. I almost didn’t want to share this card because it looks so bad but I think it’s helpful to remember that even as our skills grow, we’re still going to be learning new things that won’t always look great on the first try. So this card had some learning moments for me. If I were to make this again I would get a pen with a finer tip to draw the faces with for sure.
Their materials came with a 3D embossing folder that I couldn’t get to emboss evenly in my machine for some reason, so I went with a plain white background instead. They also had a clear shimmer pen to add some sparkle that did look nice, but it never dried, even after a few days. I guess I could have tried using a heat tool on it but I figured if it would still come off on my fingers after a few days then it wasn’t worth it, so I didn’t use it.
I’ll just enjoy the frames on this card and try not to look too closely at the details!
