Pet Sympathy Card

I like the way this card turned out even though it was sad to send. Here’s a video of the Magic Color Slider in action:

For this card I wanted to make a little GIF of the color reveal in action. I knew I had done it before for a previous card but for some reason it was intimidating to me to remember how to do it. (Part of what was challenging was making it with the card in the same exact position in each picture so that the focus was on the interactive element of the card.) I did finally make the GIF and it was not hard at all to figure out how to do it.

So just in case I get intimidated again in the future, or for anyone else who wants to make one but isn’t sure how, this is what I did:

  1. Use a phone mount to take the pictures so that your phone is in exactly the same position for each one. You still have to be careful not to move the card between shots and mine aren’t perfect but they’re close enough.
  2. Import the pictures into an editing app. I used an app called InShot. I chose the option to create a new video and then selected my pictures, so that when the video plays it just cycles through the pictures like a GIF.
  3. Change the duration of each photo in the video to be 0.5 seconds long, and then export it to your phone.
  4. Once I had a video on my phone that cycled through the pictures in the way I wanted it to, I then cropped the video to be the size and ratio that I wanted. This ensures that everything is uniform throughout the video, rather than trying to crop each picture individually beforehand.
  5. Then you can add a watermark to the video, or just keep it as is, and it’s done!
