This was my first attempt at using the Double Slider Surprise mechanism. I didn’t end up making it into a full card but still wanted to share.
For each piece of the mechanism I cut a shape with thinner cardstock meant for ink blending, so I could decorate it with a scene, but then I also cut a shape with a thicker and more sturdy cardstock and glued them together. I thought this would give everything more stability… but in the end it just made everything way too thick. I don’t think I could have sent this in the mail because it was way too much when everything had double layers. So next time I would only use one piece.
I also somehow positioned the back piece too far over, so it sticks out when everything is closed instead of being tucked away. I’m not sure how that happened. And the front cover piece is supposed to have little notches to help pull out the pieces but my scene got a little too crowded and I didn’t want to cut off any of the people, so I decided to just not add them. Since the back piece sticks out anyway I figured that was enough to help get the pieces pulled out.
It was a good learning experience to know what to avoid in the future. I also am glad to know not to decorate too much of the sides of the pieces that get pulled out, since a big part of them stays hidden. Each side had another gravestone and you can’t really see them.

It’s kind of a shame it didn’t work out because I do think the scene ended up being cute!
