I made my own envelope for a full size slimline card for the first time and wanted to share the steps I followed. My card was 8 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ and I thought that was pretty standard but I didn’t see that size on my envelope punch board.
This was the site where I found the measurements: https://g45papers.com/slimline-envelope-tutorial/
There are a lot of different tutorials there so I’m going to copy the one I followed here.
- Cut a sheet of paper (or cardstock) to the following dimensions: 8 1/2 ″ x 10 1/8 ″
- On a scoring board, place the sheet vertically. Use a bone folder and score the sheet at 3 “
- Score the sheet at 6 7/8 “
- Turn the sheet horizontally.
- Score the sheet at 5/8 “
- Score the sheet at 9 1/2 “
- Cut out all 4 corners, where the scoring has created small rectangles.
- Fold the sheet at all the score lines.
- Fold the 2 small flaps on the sides in.
- Fold up the wider horizontal flap and glue it to the 2 small flaps on the sides. (I had to trim off a little extra from the corners in some places to get everything to lay down flat.)
I did not know where 5/8 ” was on a ruler so here’s a helpful visual for anyone like me.

And the finished result:
