Large Slimline Camping Card

This was a design by Grace that I recreated and I just love how it turned out. I actually made 3 at once and it was the first time ever that I specifically made a card for the purpose of keeping it myself. I’d like to actually remake some of my past favorite cards and then frame them together somehow, but since this card is bigger than most of the others I make it would probably have to be in some sort of collage or something.

This design is one of the only full size slimline cards I’ve ever made and it really made me want to make more of them. Usually that size is intimidating to me because it seems hard to fill up all that space, but I can see how with the right design that size can really complement the card. This card is 8.5″ x 3.5″ and I don’t own the slimline hillside dies, so I just cut the hillside with a normal Simple Stitched Hillside die in the middle and then finished cutting the rest of the arc with scissors. The sides are all covered by the tents so it works perfectly.

I wasn’t sure I would be able to make the moon look as good as Grace did on her card but I’m happy with how mine turned out. I used watercolor paper just for the moon, which that alone gave it some interesting texture that was different from the rest of the card, and then I used a Pentel water pen to add some Hickory Smoke distress oxide ink to it. The pen has a brush tip and I just added some ink in a light and random pattern and I think it works.
